Brown Spots on My Succulent: What Causes It and How to Treat It?

Okay, so, I’ve got this succulent, right? I thought I was doing everything by the book, but the other day, I noticed these brown spots popping up on the leaves. Naturally, I started freaking out a little. I mean, nobody wants to see their plant baby suffering.

First thing I did was grab my phone and started checking my records. I thought I was on top of the watering, but you know how life gets. So, I double-checked how often I’d been giving it a drink. Turns out, I might have been a bit overenthusiastic. My poor succulent was probably drowning! I felt so bad.

Brown Spots on My Succulent: What Causes It and How to Treat It?

Then, I remembered that I’d moved it to a new spot on the windowsill a few weeks back. It was getting way more sun than before. Could that be it? I started thinking about sunburn – yeah, plants can get sunburned too! It made sense. The new spot was a lot brighter.

Armed with these suspicions, I decided to take action.

  • First, I cut back on the watering. I figured I’d let the soil dry out completely before giving it another drink. I also adjusted my routine a little bit.
  • Then, I moved the succulent to a spot that still gets good light but not the super intense, direct sun it was getting before. It is a little bit hard for me, because I need to find a new suitable place.
  • Finally, I bought some new well-draining soil and a new pot. I really wanted it to be comfortable.

After making these changes, I kept a close eye on my succulent. I started checking the soil regularly – sticking my finger in to see if it was dry. It took a while, but slowly, the brown spots stopped getting worse. It seemed like I’d caught the problem in time!

It’s been a few weeks now, and my succulent is looking much better. The old brown spots are still there, but they haven’t spread, and new, healthy growth is coming in. It was a real scare, but I learned a lot from this experience. I need to be more careful with my plant. And also, I realized that taking good care of it is really important for me.

It took me some time to adjust to a new routine, but in the end, I did it. Now, I have a better relationship with my plant and I am also becoming a more responsible person.
