Well, look at that, you wanna buy a weeping mulberry tree, huh? Near you, you say? Let me tell ya, these things ain’t just any ol’ tree. They’re kinda special, ya know? I’ve seen a few in my time, and they’re somethin’ else.
First off, you gotta know what kinda weeping mulberry you want. Seems like there’s two main types. One’s the boy tree, they call it somethin’ like Morus alba ‘Chaparral’. Fancy name, huh? This one gets kinda tall, like taller than your house maybe, ten to fifteen feet they say. Shiny green leaves, real pretty.
Then there’s the girl tree, M. alba ‘Pendula’. This one’s shorter, maybe six to eight feet, but it gives you fruit. Little berries, kinda sweet, the birds love ‘em. You can eat ‘em too, I hear. They say it’s good for you, keeps you from gettin’ old and sick, somethin’ about fightin’ off bad stuff in your body.
- Boy Tree (Morus alba ‘Chaparral’): Tall, 10-15 feet, shiny leaves, no fruit.
- Girl Tree (M. alba ‘Pendula’): Shorter, 6-8 feet, has fruit, good for eatin’.
Now, where to find ‘em? That’s the tricky part. You can’t just go pluckin’ one outta the woods, ya know. You gotta go to a place that sells trees, a nursery they call it. Or maybe one of them big stores, like that Lowe’s place. I hear they sell all sorts of stuff for your yard.
I saw one of them Lowe’s ads the other day. Said somethin’ about deliverin’ stuff if you spend enough money, and you can always take it back if you don’t like it. They got a few stores around here, one on Silver Drive, another on East Broad Street, and one over on Morse Crossing. Maybe they got your tree, worth a look-see, I reckon.
But before you go buyin’, think about where you’re gonna put it. These trees, they get kinda wide, like fifteen feet wide. You don’t wanna plant it too close to the house or the fence. And they like sun, lots of sun. Gotta give ’em water too, especially when they’re young.
These weeping mulberry trees, they grow fast. Faster than my tomatoes, that’s for sure. And they live a long time, forty years or more, they say. Imagine that, a tree that lives longer than your dog, maybe even longer than your car! So, it’s a pretty big deal.
So, there you have it. A little bit about weeping mulberry trees. Go on and find yourself one. It’ll make your yard look nice, and maybe you’ll get some tasty berries too. And you can always show it off to your neighbors, nothing wrong with having the prettiest yard on the street, right? Just make sure you take good care of it, water it, give it some love, and that tree will be happy as a clam.
And don’t forget to look for that tag that says Weeping Mulberry, just to be sure you’re gettin’ the right thing. You don’t want to end up with some other tree that doesn’t weep, then you’ll just be disappointed. Good luck with your tree huntin’!
One more thing, them branches, they kinda hang down, makes the tree look all droopy, like it’s sad or somethin’. That’s why they call it a “weeping” mulberry, I guess. But don’t worry, it ain’t sad, it’s just pretty that way. It’s like one of them fancy hairdos, all curled and flowin’. And speaking of flowin’, make sure you plant it somewhere where the branches can hang down without hittin’ the ground or getting in the way. You don’t want to have to be choppin’ at it all the time.
Anyways, I think I’ve told you just about everything I know about weeping mulberries. Now you go on and do your own research, talk to them folks at the store, and pick out the perfect tree for your yard. Happy plantin’!
