Well, lemme tell ya about this here full grown teddy bear magnolia tree. Ain’t nothin’ fancy about it, just a good, sturdy tree, kinda like them old workhorses we used to have on the farm. Now, they call it “teddy bear” ’cause them leaves, they’re kinda round and fuzzy feelin’, like a teddy bear, I reckon.
This tree, it don’t get too big, not like them giants in the forest. Maybe 16 to 20 feet tall, they say. But it’s plenty big enough to give ya some shade on a hot day. And the flowers! Oh, they’re somethin’ else. Big, white things, smells real sweet, like somethin’ you’d put on yer Sunday best. They bloom all year ’round, or so they tell me, so you always got somethin’ pretty to look at.
- First off, plantin’ it. You gotta dig a hole, not too deep, not too shallow. Just right. And put some good dirt in there, none of that clay stuff.
- Then, water it good. Not too much, not too little. Just enough to keep it happy. And you gotta feed it, too. Once a year, they say. Just like feedin’ the chickens, gotta keep ’em healthy.
Them roots, they’re somethin’ else. Not like them carrots you pull outta the ground. These roots, they go sideways, like snakes crawlin’ under the dirt. They stay close to the top, so don’t go stompin’ around too hard near the tree, ya hear? You don’t wanna mess with them roots.
Now, this “Little Gem” they talk about, it’s another one of them magnolias. Smaller flowers, but they bloom longer. But this teddy bear one, it’s got them big, fancy flowers. Take yer pick, I say. It’s all about what you like.
This tree, it’s a tough one. Stands up to the heat, stands up to the cold, kinda like us old folks. Just gotta give it a little love and care, and it’ll do ya right. Ain’t nothin’ more satisfyin’ than seein’ somethin’ you planted grow big and strong.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a tree that ain’t too fussy, somethin’ that’ll give ya pretty flowers and a bit of shade, this teddy bear magnolia might just be the ticket. Just remember, give it some good dirt, some water, and a little feedin’, and it’ll be happy as a clam. And that’s all there is to it, really. Nothin’ fancy, just plain and simple, like good ol’ home cookin’.
This tree, it’s a good one, I tell ya. Reminds me of them old days, when things were simpler. You plant somethin’, you take care of it, and it grows. Ain’t nothin’ more to it than that. And that’s the truth, as sure as I’m standin’ here.
