Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about them green tea roses. I ain’t no fancy gardener, mind you, but I’ve grown a few roses in my time, and these green tea ones, they’re somethin’ special.
First off, ya gotta find a good spot for ’em. Sun, they need lots of it. Like, six hours a day at least. If ya stick ’em in the shade, they ain’t gonna do much. Think of it like this, even I like to sit in the sun and warm up my old bones, so do these roses. They need the sun same as us.
Plantin’ ’em ain’t too hard neither. Just dig a hole, not too shallow, not too deep. Put them roots down good and cover ‘em up. But, listen good – you gotta give ’em some good dirt. They need stuff in the dirt to make ’em grow big and strong. Kinda like how we need to eat our vittles to keep goin’. Go get some of that fertilizer stuff from the store. Ya know, the stuff in the bags. Sprinkle it around, not too much, not too little. And water ’em good. Not just a little sprinkle, but a good soakin’. They need water every week, specially when it’s hot.
Now, about them flowers. Them green tea roses, they got some real pretty blooms. But ya gotta help ’em along sometimes. After that winter cold is gone, ya gotta do some prunin’. That’s just fancy talk for cuttin’ off the dead parts. Take them sharp clippers and snip off anythin’ that looks brown or black or just plain sad. Cut it at an angle, so the water don’t sit on there and rot it.
- Sun: Lots of it, at least 6 hours a day.
- Water: A good soakin’ once a week.
- Dirt: Gotta be good stuff, use some fertilizer.
- Prunin’: Cut off the dead parts after winter.
And another thing, them roses, they can get sick sometimes, just like us. Sometimes them leaves turn yellow or get spots. Or maybe the whole darn plant starts dyin’ back. That can happen for lots of reasons. Maybe it ain’t gettin’ enough food, maybe it’s got some bugs eatin’ on it, or maybe it’s just old. If it’s bugs, you can buy some spray stuff. Just don’t spray too much you don’t want to poison it. If it’s old, well, there ain’t much ya can do about that, same as us.
I remember this one time; my neighbor had some rose bushes. She kept overwatering it. Them roses just sat there, lookin’ all droopy. I told her, I said, “You’re drownin’ them things!” She stopped waterin’ ’em so much, and wouldn’t you know it, they perked right up. So, listen to your roses, they’ll tell ya what they need.
Plantin’ time, that’s important too. You don’t wanna plant ’em when it’s too cold, they won’t grow. Wait till after that last frost, when the ground is good and warm. That’s about late March to middle April dependin’ where you live. Then you can stick ’em in the ground and they’ll be just fine. And don’t forget, them green tea roses need that good dirt, plenty of sun, and just the right amount of water. It’s all about balance, you see.
So, there ya have it. That’s all I know about green tea roses. They ain’t hard to grow if ya just pay attention to what they need. Give ’em sun, water, good dirt, and a little bit of love, and they’ll give you some of the prettiest flowers you ever did see.
Just a few more things before I forget. If those flowers don’t bloom much, maybe they’re not getting enough sun. Or maybe you pruned them wrong. You gotta cut above those little buds, the ones that point outwards. That’s where the new flowers will come from. And make sure your clippers are sharp; if you use dull ones, you can damage the plant.
And don’t go puttin’ them roses in no bad spot. They need good drainage, which means the water needs to drain away. If they sit in water, the roots will rot. I’m tellin’ ya, they’re just like us. We can’t sit in water all day neither. Also, remember to give those roses some space. Don’t crowd them together. They need room to breathe. Think of it like this: how you feel if you had to be stuck all day in a room crowded with people? You couldn’t breathe. Same with these roses.
Now go on, git out there and grow some roses. You’ll be surprised how much joy a little flower can bring. It ain’t just about pretty things to look at; it’s about takin’ care of somethin’ and watchin’ it grow. It’s a good feelin’, that’s for sure.
