Well, I tell ya, this here “Hot Princess Rose,” that’s what they call it, sounds right fancy, don’t it? Sounds like somethin’ outta one of them fairy tales my grandbaby watches. But it ain’t no princess, just a flower, though a mighty purdy one at that.
I seen pictures of it, and lemme tell ya, it’s somethin’ else. Deep pink, they say. Not just any pink, mind you, but deep pink. Like the color of the sky just before the sun dips down behind the ol’ Johnson place. And them blooms, they got these swirly centers, kinda like a cinnamon roll, only prettier. They say the flowers are on long stems, which is good, I reckon. Means you can cut ‘em and bring ‘em inside without pokin’ your fingers too much.
Now, I ain’t no fancy gardener, but I know a good plant when I see one. And this here “Hot Princess,” she seems like a tough one. They say she’s got good “disease resistance.” That’s just a fancy way of sayin’ she don’t get sick easy. Which is good, ’cause I ain’t got time to be fussin’ over no sickly plants. I got enough on my plate with the chickens and the garden and that ornery ol’ goat.
- They say it’s “upright” and “bushy.” Well, that sounds just dandy to me. I don’t want no droopy, wimpy rose bush. I want one that stands up tall and proud, like it’s got somethin’ to say.
- And bushy? That means lots of flowers, I reckon. And who don’t like lots of flowers? Makes a place look cheerful, even when the skies are grey and the well’s runnin’ dry.
I heard tell this rose was “raised,” which I guess means somebody grew it on purpose. Not just somethin’ that popped up outta the ground on its own. Somebody took the time to make this rose special, and it shows, I tell ya, it shows. Makes you think, don’t it? All that work for somethin’ purty to look at. But then again, ain’t that what life’s about? Findin’ the purty in the everyday.
They got this thing called a “plant database,” sounds all highfalutin if you ask me. But I guess it’s just a place where they keep all the info about different plants. They got pictures and comments and all sorts of stuff. They even got pictures of this here “Hot Princess.” Three of ‘em, they say. Wish I could see ‘em in real life, though. Pictures ain’t the same as the real McCoy.
Now, if I was gonna plant this rose, I’d put it right by the front porch, where I could see it every mornin’ when I’m sippin’ my coffee. And I’d probably talk to it, too. Yeah, I know it sounds crazy, but plants like a little attention, just like the rest of us. I’d tell it how purty it is, and how much I appreciate it brighten’ up my day. And maybe, just maybe, it’d bloom a little brighter for me.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a rose that’s strong and purty, this here “Hot Princess” might just be the ticket. Just remember to give it a little sunshine and water, and maybe a kind word or two. And who knows, maybe it’ll make you feel like a princess yourself.
One more thing, I hear tell these “Hot Princess” roses smell real nice, too. That sweet rose smell, like grandma’s perfume, only better. Nothin’ like a good smellin’ flower to lift your spirits, I always say.
Anyways, that’s about all I know about this “Hot Princess Rose.” Sounds like a good ‘un, though. Strong, purty, and don’t get sick easy. What more could you want from a flower?
And remember, just because it’s called a “princess” doesn’t mean it needs special treatment. Just some good ol’ fashioned care and attention, and it’ll thrive just fine.
