Okay, so you wanna know about them sugar cane and jujube trees, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, I’ve seen a thing or two in my time, growin’ stuff and sellin’ stuff. It ain’t always easy, but it’s honest work, that’s for sure.
First off, this “sugar cane” thing… Now, I ain’t talkin’ ’bout the big tall grass you make sugar from. We’re talkin’ ’bout a type of jujube, see? Folks call it that ’cause it’s sweet like sugar, I reckon. These jujube trees, they ain’t all the same, no sirree. You got all sorts, like them Li, and Shanxi Li, and Chico, and…well, a whole bunch more. Too many to remember for an old gal like me!
Now, findin’ ’em for sale… that’s the tricky part. You gotta look around, ask around. Sometimes you see ads, you know, in them papers or on the internet thingy. Says stuff like “jujube trees for sale” or “grafted jujube,” that means they took a good branch from a good tree and stuck it on another one, makes it grow faster and better, they say. I seen some folks sellin’ ’em near Ingleburn, that’s what I heard. And they got all kinds, like I said, even them sugar cane ones. They even had some with flowers already, ain’t that somethin’?
Them jujube trees, they ain’t like them fussy apple trees or peach trees. They’re tough, real tough. Grow pretty much anywhere, long as it ain’t too cold. Even in Florida, they get big as a house, forty feet tall they say! But here, they’re smaller, more…manageable, you know? They got these twisty branches, kinda pokey sometimes, and the wood is hard as a rock. Good for makin’ things, I bet, if you’re into that kinda stuff.
And the fruit? Oh, the fruit! That’s the best part. Li is the best, everyone knows that. Big and juicy and sweet as can be. But them other ones ain’t bad neither. Shuimen, Lang, Pear… they all got their own flavor. And the best thing is, you don’t gotta wait forever to get some fruit. These trees, they start producin’ flowers and even some fruit the very first year you plant ’em, if you’re lucky! Most of ’em give you a little somethin’ the second year, and by the time they’re four or five years old, you’ll be swimmin’ in jujubes!
- Look for grafted trees: They grow faster and produce better fruit.
- Spring is a good time to buy: That’s when lots of folks have sales.
- Ask around: Neighbors, farmers markets, online ads, anywhere you can think of.
Now, I ain’t got any trees to sell ya myself, but I hope this helps you find what you’re lookin’ for. Remember, good things take time, but a good jujube tree is worth waitin’ for. They’re pretty, they’re tough, and they give you the sweetest fruit you ever tasted. And if you find them “sugar cane” ones, well, you’re in for a real treat!
One more thing, when you go lookin’ for these trees, don’t be afraid to ask questions. Ask the folks sellin’ ’em what kind they are, how old they are, how to take care of ’em. A good seller will be happy to help ya out. And don’t be afraid to haggle a little, everyone likes to get a good deal. Just be polite about it, ya know? A little kindness goes a long way.
So, good luck in your search for them sugar cane jujube trees. I hope you find some beautiful, healthy ones that’ll give you years of delicious fruit. And remember, growin’ things is a gift, somethin’ special. So take care of your trees, and they’ll take care of you.
