Alright, let’s talk ’bout them fruit trees, the kind that don’t need you fussin’ over ’em all the time, you know? Them low-maintenance ones, yeah, that’s the ticket. We ain’t got time to be babyin’ no plants all day long, we got chores to do!
So, if you’re in California, like me, and want some fruit without the headache, listen up. I heard tell of some trees that do just fine without much water or that fancy fertilizer stuff. First off, there’s them plum trees. Folks say they’re a good choice. Don’t know much about ’em myself, but if they don’t need much tendin’, they sound alright to me.
- Then there’s apricots. Now, them I know. Sweet little things, grow pretty good, and don’t ask for much.
- And figs? Oh, them figs are somethin’ else. Easy peasy, they say. Just plant ’em and they grow. And the fruit? Good eatin’, that’s for sure. You can put ’em in all sorts of things, jams, pies, whatever you fancy.
- Nectarines, too. Heard they’re good, but never grown ’em myself. But if they’re on this here low-fuss list, they must be alright.
Now, if you’re really lookin’ for somethin’ that can take the heat, the real drought-tolerant kind, there’s a few more. Almonds, they say, can handle it. And them olives, too. Though I don’t know why you’d want olives, ain’t much good eatin’ ’em straight off the tree, but folks do all sorts of things with ’em, I guess.
Then there’s the berries. Now, berries I like. Currants, gooseberries, raspberries, and blackberries. They say they’re all low-maintenance. Just stick ’em in the ground and they pretty much take care of themselves. And the pies you can make… oh my! Makes my mouth water just thinkin’ ’bout it. And I tell you what else, there’s this tree called “Ficus carica L.” Sounds fancy, I know, but it’s just a fig tree, really. But this one’s supposed to be tough as nails, grows fast, and folks have good luck with it.
What about other fruit? Well, some folks say apples, cherries, and pears are kinda drought-tolerant too. But I reckon they still need a bit more water than them others I mentioned. So if you ain’t got much water to spare, stick with the almonds, figs, and olives, that’s what I say. And them berries, don’t forget the berries!
So, there you have it. A whole mess of trees that don’t need you fussin’ over ’em. Just plant ’em, give ’em a little water now and then, and they’ll give you fruit. That’s the kind of deal I like. No sense in makin’ things harder than they gotta be, right? And remember, plantin’ a tree is good for the soul, or so they say. Gives you somethin’ to look forward to, somethin’ to care for. Even if it don’t need much carin’, it’s still nice to watch it grow and see them fruits comin’ on. Makes you feel like you done somethin’ good, somethin’ worthwhile. Now go on and get yourself some trees, before I start ramblin’ on again!
Choosing the right fruit tree really depends on what you like and how much work you’re willin’ to put in. But if you’re like me, and you want somethin’ easy, then stick to that list I give ya. You won’t be disappointed. And remember, sunshine and a little bit of water, that’s all they need. Just like us, I guess. A little sunshine, a little water, and a whole lotta love. That’s the secret to a good life, and a good harvest, too.
