Okay, folks, gather ’round, let me tell you about my latest project. I saw this cute little planter online the other day, and the phrase on it just cracked me up: “Nobody Pots Baby in the Corner.” I knew right then and there, I had to have it. But, you know me, I’m not just gonna buy something when I can get my hands dirty and make it myself, right?
So, first things first, I needed a pot. Nothing fancy, just a plain ceramic one I picked up from the local craft store. It had this attached saucer thingy, which was perfect ’cause I didn’t want any water mess. Then came the fun part – the lettering. Now, I’m no artist, but I found this cool font online that looked kinda like the one in the picture, and I figured, “Why not?” I printed out the phrase, making sure it fit nicely on the pot.

Next up, I got myself some transfer paper. I carefully traced the letters onto the paper, and then, with a bit of elbow grease, I transferred them onto the pot. It was a bit tedious, I won’t lie, but seeing those words take shape on the ceramic was pretty satisfying. Once the design was on, I grabbed my acrylic paints. I went with a simple black ’cause I wanted the phrase to really pop. Steady hand, deep breaths, and I started painting.
- Find a plain ceramic pot: Just a regular one from a craft store will do.
- Print out the phrase: Make sure the font is to your liking and fits the pot.
- Transfer the design: Use transfer paper to get the words onto the pot.
- Paint the letters: Acrylic paint works great, and black makes the words stand out.
- Let it dry: Patience is key, folks.
It took a couple of coats to get it looking sharp, and I had to let it dry completely, which, let me tell you, was the hardest part ’cause I was so excited to see the finished product. But, eventually, it was done! I found a cute little succulent to put in it, and bam! My very own “Nobody Pots Baby in the Corner” planter was born.
It’s now sitting proudly on my windowsill, and every time I look at it, I can’t help but smile. It’s a fun little reminder not to take things too seriously and to always add a bit of personality to your space. Plus, it was way cheaper than buying one online, and I got the satisfaction of making it myself. Win-win, I’d say!
What I learned
Honestly, this little project taught me that even the simplest things can bring a lot of joy. And that anyone, and I mean anyone, can get crafty with a little bit of effort. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about having fun and making something that’s uniquely yours. So, if you’re looking for a fun weekend project, give this a try. You might surprise yourself with what you can create!
