Alright, listen up. You got this philodendron selloum, yeah? Big leaves, looks real nice when it’s healthy. But then you see them yellow spots? Damn things ruin the whole look. Makes you wanna just toss the whole plant, right? But hold on, hold your horses.
First off, don’t go panickin’. Yellow spots? It happens. Plants ain’t perfect, you know? Like us. We get sick, they get sick. It’s just life. So, before you go throwin’ out a good plant, let’s figure out what’s wrong.
Most times, it’s water. Too much or too little, both bad. You give it too much, the roots rot. Leaves turn yellow, sometimes brown and mushy. You don’t give it enough, leaves turn yellow and crispy, like old paper. Figure out your waterin’, that’s the first thing.
- Stick your finger in the dirt. If it’s dry, water it.
- If it’s soggy, let it dry out.
Don’t be waterin’ on a schedule, like “every Tuesday.” Plants ain’t clocks. Water when they need it, not when you think they need it.
Now, sometimes it ain’t just the water. Sometimes it’s them spots, you know? The ones that look like sores? That ain’t good. That’s some kinda leaf spot disease. Bugs or somethin’ eatin’ away at the leaves. Makes ’em weak, makes ’em yellow. If you see them spots, you gotta act fast.
Get some of that copper stuff, they sell it at the store. Mix it up and spray it on the leaves, both sides. Don’t be stingy with it, get it all over. And don’t forget the stems, them bugs like to hide there too. Spray any plants nearby, just in case. Them bugs spread like wildfire.
After you spray, keep an eye on the plant. If you see more spots, spray it again. But if the new leaves look healthy, you’re probably good.
Another thing, check the air. Yeah, the air. Plants need air too, just like us. If the air is too still, too damp, them bugs like that. They thrive in that kind of air. So, open a window, get some air movin’. Let the leaves dry out. Don’t let ’em stay wet.
And don’t forget the light. Plants need light to grow. But too much sun can burn ’em. Make ’em yellow. So, find a good spot, not too bright, not too dark. Just right. Like Goldilocks and the three bears, you know? Gotta find what’s just right.
If you’re still not sure, ask someone at the store where you bought it. Or look it up online. Lots of folks know about plants. They can help you figure it out.
And don’t give up. Just ’cause it’s got some yellow spots doesn’t mean it’s done for. Plants are tough, they can bounce back. Just gotta give ’em a little help.
So, take a deep breath, and get to work. Figure out the water, check for spots, get some air movin’. Your philodendron selloum will thank you. And you’ll have a beautiful plant again, no more yellow spots.
And one last thing, don’t be afraid to cut off the bad leaves. The ones with lots of spots, the ones that are really yellow. Cut ’em off. The plant will put its energy into growing new, healthy leaves. It’s like trimmin’ your hair, you know? Gotta get rid of the dead ends to make it grow healthy and strong.
