Well, let me tell ya ’bout this here flower, the “kiss me over the garden gate” flower. Sounds fancy, huh? But it ain’t that complicated, trust me. It’s just a pretty thang that grows tall, real tall, and has these bright, happy flowers.
What’s This Flower All About?
Some folks say it’s got all this fire in it, makes ya feel all energetic and passionate. I don’t know ’bout all that, but I reckon it does make a garden look lively. They say it’s like, ya know, it makes things excitin’, like a fire in yer belly, but for yer heart. Sounds like a lotta hooey to me, but hey, whatever floats yer boat.
- It’s good for lookin’ at: Them flowers are real pretty, all bright and cheery. Good for makin’ yer garden look nice.
- Critters like it: Them little hummin’ birds, they love this flower. And bees too, I reckon. Always buzzin’ around it.
- Grows real tall: This ain’t no little ground hugger. It grows up, up, up, taller than yer fence sometimes. That’s why they call it “kiss me over the garden gate,” I guess. You gotta reach up high to get to them flowers.
Growin’ This Tall Fella
Now, if ya wanna grow this thing, it ain’t too hard. But ya gotta be patient. Them seeds, they need a good sleep in the cold afore they wake up and start growin’. Like four weeks, they say. So don’t go rushin’ ’em. And give ’em a good soak afore ya plant ’em. A whole day in water, that’s what I heard. Then, find a sunny spot. This flower, it likes the sun, needs it real bad. At least six hours a day, they say. If it don’t get enough sun, it ain’t gonna grow right, gonna be all droopy and sad-lookin’.
And water it, ya hear? Don’t let it get all dried out. It likes a good drink, just like the rest of us. But don’t drown it neither. Just keep the dirt moist, that’s the key.
Is It Good for Anything Else?
Now, some folks, they say this flower is good for more than just lookin’ at. They say it can make yer blood thinner, if ya got thick blood, I guess. And help with pain, too. And somethin’ ’bout hernias… I don’t know nothin’ ’bout that. Sounds like doctor stuff to me. And they even say the berries, the little fruits it makes, can help with some kinda sickness in yer liver and some nasty sores. And somethin’ called “cancer.” Lord have mercy. But I ain’t no doctor, so don’t go listenin’ to me. Just plant the flower and enjoy it, that’s what I say.
Where to Put It?
Well, like I said, it grows tall. So don’t go plantin’ it in front of somethin’ small, it’ll just hide it. Put it in the back, or on the side, where it can reach for the sky. And make sure it gets that sun, that’s the most important thing. Full sun, they call it. Or part shade, if ya ain’t got no full sun. But more sun is better, trust me.
So, there ya have it. All ya need to know ’bout this “kiss me over the garden gate” flower. It ain’t rocket science. Just plant it, water it, and enjoy it. And maybe, just maybe, it’ll bring a little fire to yer life, whatever that means.
