Alright, so you got them pretty flowers, the impatiens, right? And they’re supposed to be all green and nice, but then, bam! Yellow leaves start showing up. Ain’t that a pain? Well, let me tell ya, it ain’t just bad luck. There’s always a reason for these things, just like when the cow don’t give milk, somethin’s up.
One thing that can make them leaves turn yellow is too much water. Yep, you heard that right. Too much of a good thing ain’t always good, you know? Like pourin’ too much water down a gopher hole, you just drown the poor thing. Same with these flowers. If the dirt is all soggy and wet all the time, the roots can’t breathe, and then the leaves start turnin’ yellow. So, let the dirt dry out a bit between waterin’, don’t be waterin’ them every five minutes, give ’em a break!
- Too much water – leaves turn yellow and mushy
- Too little water – leaves get pale and faded
Now, on the other hand, not enough water can also be a problem. If them leaves are lookin’ faded and pale, kinda like an old washed-out shirt, then they might be thirsty. Just like us, flowers need water to live. So, make sure you give ’em enough, but not too much. It’s all about findin’ that happy medium, you know?
Another thing that can cause yellow leaves is too much sun. Yeah, them impatiens, they like the shade. They ain’t like them sunflowers that just bask in the sun all day long. If you put ’em in the sun all day, they gonna get fried. The leaves will turn yellow, and they might even get crispy, like bacon left on the stove too long. So, find a nice shady spot for ’em, where they can get some sun, but not too much.
And then there’s the food, or whatever you call it, the stuff that makes ’em grow big and strong. If the dirt don’t have enough of that good stuff, the leaves can turn yellow too. It’s like if you don’t eat your vegetables, you get all weak and sickly. Same with the flowers. They need their food to stay healthy. So, you might need to give ’em some plant food, you know, that stuff you buy at the store. Just follow the directions, don’t go pourin’ the whole bag in there, or you’ll do more harm than good.
Sometimes, them leaves just get old, you know? Like us, they don’t last forever. If the yellow leaves are mostly at the bottom of the plant, and the top leaves are still green, then it might just be old leaves dyin’ off. That’s normal, nothin’ to worry about. Just pluck ’em off, and the plant will keep on growin’.
So, there you have it. A few reasons why your impatiens leaves might be turnin’ yellow. Just remember, too much water, not enough water, too much sun, not enough food, or just plain old age. Figure out which one it is, and you can fix it. And your flowers will be back to bein’ all green and pretty in no time.
One more thing, if you see little bugs crawlin’ around on the leaves, that could be a problem too. Sometimes them little critters suck the life outta the plant, and that can make the leaves turn yellow. So, keep an eye out for them bugs, and if you see ’em, you gotta get rid of ’em. There’s stuff you can buy at the store for that too.
